Director and Strategic Officer, Food for Soul

Jill Conklin is the Director and Strategic Officer of Food for Soul, the international nonprofit founded by chef Massimo Bottura and Lara Gilmore to prevent food loss and waste and foster social inclusion through their cultural community-based model,  Refettorio.  A Johnson & Wales University graduate of culinary, applied nutrition sciences and business strategy fellow, Jill brings over three decades of experience across gastronomy, public health, sustainability, and food systems innovation. Since joining Food for Soul in 2019, she's led global advocacy on prevention of waste and food as a human right; expanding project partnerships across nine countries bringing fresh food access to over 1.6 M vulnerable people. Her work is grounded in a lifelong dedication to food justice and child nutrition, shaped by early volunteerism, nonprofit board advisory and consulting on healthy diets research, culinary, food safety and HACCP training, NSLP policy leadership, and sustainable food ventures to meet FSMA, GFSI certifications.  Jill currently serves on board and advisory groups, including SuperChefs Cookery for Kids and Westin Eat Well initiative, Partnership for Healthier America, and as a past mentor and contributor to the IDEO + ReFED Food Recovery Accelerator, the Zero Waste Coalition, and Michelle Obama’s “Chefs Move to Schools” campaign.
